Landmark case may set precedent for Colombian assault survivors
In 2000, Colombian journalist and human rights defender Jineth Bedoya Lima was abducted, tortured and raped while working on a news report involving a prison massacre. After years of inaction, a petition was filed alleging Colombia’s international responsibility for the violation of several rights included in the American Convention of Human Rights.
