AB 1735 encourages victims to seek help from skilled professionals
without fear of penalty from their exploiters. This bill also works
to expand the privacy of victims of human trafficking
when they seek professional help. AB 1735 was passed by a ⅔ vote on August 15, and will go into effect on January 1, 2020.
Short Video Clip from Young Feminists Panel
An incredibly powerful response from Karla Guerra in this short video about her experiences in El Salvador with the daily inescapable prevalence of domestic violence and how that informed her becoming an activist. From feeling surrounded by the toxic masculinity and violence she experienced everyday, she then found work in the legal system and began to put herself in a position to do something about it. What an honor to facilitate this conversation and hear voices from young leaders like Karla, Jessica and Swarnima!
